
Metro PR spear headed a celebrity social media campaign, live televised press conference, and a dozen local events around the country for Point Forward Day, the 20th Anniversary of Magic Johnson’s announcement and the creation of the Magic Johnson Foundation.
STRATEGY:
Metro coordinated media efforts around a live, televised press conference and event with Magic Johnson in partnership with AEG and the Staples Center, featuring guests including Pat Riley, Peter Guber, Phil Jackson, Jerry Buss, Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, Dr. David Ho and AEG President Tim Leiweke. We supported community activation strategy and created media materials for local “Point Forward Day” events at MJF’s Community Empowerment Centers throughout the country. We also led celebrity outreach and developed social media strategy for campaign launch.
RESULTS:
- Metro PR’s efforts around the events and social media campaign resulted in the testing of thousands of individuals at local Community Empowerment Centers, over 147 million media and over 37 million social media impressions.
- Over 1 million dollars was pledged to the Magic Johnson Foundation.
- Celebrity participants in the social media campaign included Dwayne Wade, Justin Bieber, Ludacris, Common, Kobe Bryant, Adrian Peterson, Pau Gasol, Paula Abdul, Steve Nash, Monique Coleman, Faith Evans, Blair Underwood, among others.
